Jackknifed semi-trailer truck backs up traffic on Interstate 35

A semi-trailer truck jackknifed on Interstate 35 Wednesday morning causing traffic to back up for a mile. The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the highway near Behrens Circle.

Officials say one person has been transported to the hospital because of the accident. One car slammed into a guardrail, and the semi-trailer truck went through the rail and partially jackknifed.

Ken Roberts of TxDOT says two left lanes are closed, and crews still need to clean up the diesel spill and damaged guardrail. Roberts estimates that the highway will be cleaned up sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Traffic has backed up for more than a mile past North Loop 340.
