Baylor Baseball Treks to UT San Antonio for Tuesday Clash
Bears looking to improve upon 5-2 record in midweek games
WACO, Texas – Baylor wraps up a four-game road trip on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. CT game against UT San Antonio. The Bears are 5-2 in midweek games this season and have won two of their last three road contests.
Coming off a 1-1 Big 12 opening weekend at No. 20 Oklahoma State, Baylor will look to improve upon its 29-5 all-time record against UTSA. BU fell 4-1 in San Antonio on April 24, 2012 in a loss that snapped Baylor's school- and Big 12-record 24-game winning streak. The Bears then bounced back to beat UTSA 14-3 in Waco on May 15, 2012.

BAYLOR SPLITS BIG 12 OPENING SERIES AT NO. 20 OKLAHOMA STATE
Baylor went 1-1 in its Big 12 opening weekend at No. 20 Oklahoma State as Sunday's game was cancelled due to weather. On Friday, a 0-0 tie in the sixth inning was broken by OSU's Zach Fish after he hit a three-run homer en route to a 5-0 win for the Cowboys, who were the first to scratch more than three runs (5) off Dillon Newman this season in his sixth start. On Saturday, BU fell behind 1-0 in the fifth but bounced back to take a 3-1 lead in the sixth. After OSU tied the game with a runs in the sixth and seventh, the Bears scored on a 12th-inning Logan Brown double and went on to win 5-3.
BAYLOR VS. UT SAN ANTONIO SERIES HISTORY
Baylor is 29-5 in the all-time series against UTSA. The Bears are 21-3 against the Roadrunners in games played in Waco and 8-2 in games played in San Antonio. Baylor is 27-3 against UTSA during the Steve Smith era. BU fell 4-1 in San Antonio on April 24, 2012 in a loss that snapped Baylor's school- and Big 12-record 24-game winning streak. BAYLOR VS. WESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
Baylor is 210-77 against teams that are current members of the Western Athletic Conference. BAYLOR IN BIG 12 OPENERS
Baylor is 9-8 all-time in Big 12 season openers. Prior to losing Friday's opener at No. 20 Oklahoma State 5-0, the Bears won last year's opener in a 9-4 decision at home over Texas Tech. Last season's win snapped a five-game losing streak in Big 12 openers and gave BU its first such win since 2006. Baylor is 248-184 all-time in Big 12 play.
BARE HANGING ZEROES OUT OF ‘PEN
Crayton Bare was phenomenal in two relief outings for Baylor last week as he earned a win and posted 8.2 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and five walks with 11 strikeouts while surrendering only a .154 batting average to opponents. His first appearance of the week came at home against Sam Houston State and was one out shy of a career high innings pitched as he allowed only two hits and three walks over five innings with a career-high eight strikeouts. In a 12-inning win at No. 20 Oklahoma State, Bare worked out of two jams to earn BU's first Big 12 win, allowing two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Bare has held opponents scoreless over his last four appearances, covering 11.2 innings while allowing six hits and seven walks with 12 strikeouts. The senior lefty has already eclipsed his career-high innings total with 22.2 this season and sports a solid 3.57 ERA with 19 strikeouts and a 1-1 record in 11 outings.
