Services set for deceased Baylor student

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Services have been set for a Baylor senior who collapsed near the finish line during Saturday's Bearathon in Waco.

Visitation for Daniel Jones will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 27 at the Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home in Fort Worth. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday March 28 at Life Church in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Jones, a senior marketing and management double major from North Richland Hills, collapsed and later died Saturday. Jones collapsed on 5th Street near the finish line of the Bearathon, a Student Foundation event that raises money for student scholarships.

Jones was treated on the scene and transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he passed away about an hour later.

Baylor sent out a campus wide email Saturday saying Jones was a member of Kappa Omega Tau fraternity and former member of Student Foundation.

"Those who were close to Daniel knew how he overcame adversity during his lifetime including the loss of his mother at age 11 to a drunk driver," the email said.
