Gatesville man leads police on wild pursuit

FORT HOOD, TX (KXXV) -

An 80-year-old Gatesville man has been arrested after leading officers on a chase through town for about a half hour Friday morning.

Gatesville police say they received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of FM 215. Officers found the vehicle in the 1200 block of East Main and attempted to stop it, but the driver sped off.

The suspected vehicle went through various streets and parking lots in town. Gatesville police, Coryell County deputies and a DPS trooper joined the attempt to stop the  suspected vehicle.

Law enforcement eventually stopped the suspected vehicle at the main gate at North Fort Hood.

Curtis Alvin Clement was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

When asked why he drove like he did through town, he told officers, "I thought someone was chasing me."
