Temple man arrested for leaving child unattended

TEMPLE -

A Temple man is arrested after he is found neglecting a child he was supposed to be caring for. The incident happened Monday at a home in the 5200 block of W. Adams Avenue.

Police received a call about an unconscious 32-year-old man named Joshua John Guerra. The witnesses found Guerra on the floor of the house, and a child that was left unattended in the home.

The witnesses told police that they took the child and left the home due to fear of the Guerra's behavior.

When officers arrived at the home, they knocked on the door for several minutes until Guerra finally answered the door. Police were given permission to enter the home to speak with him.

Police say Guerra appeared to be very disoriented and confused. He was walking aimlessly around the home as the officers were speaking with him. Officers talked with him for several minutes and Guerra never mentioned the child he was supposed to be caring for.

An officer found and confiscated a suspected controlled substance lying on the kitchen counter.

Guerra has been arrested for endangering a child and is now in Bell County Jail.
