Local man arrested for attacking another man with a pipe

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Police have arrested a 43-year-old man accused of attacking another man with a pipe on New Years Day. The incident happened at a home in the 3800 block of North 24th.

Police were called to Providence Health Center at 8 p.m. that night when a man showed up at the emergency room with serious injuries to his face and head, including a broken jaw.

He was stabilized, then transferred to Scott & White Hospital in Temple for surgery.

The victim was able to tell officers that he had gotten into an argument with a cousin who attacked him with a short piece of pipe. The victim was hit several times in the face and head, and was kicked when he fell down. 

Police obtained an arrest warrant for James Edward Tyrone.  He was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail on charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

He posted $20,000 bond on Wednesday and was released.
