City of Killeen and Killeen ISD meet to discuss population growth

A 42% general population growth has forced the City of Killeen and Killeen ISD to meet for the first time in eight years.

Killeen currently has 130 thousand residents, and officials believe that number will reach 190,000 in the coming years.

The largest growth is being seen south of Stan Schlueter. The City of Killeen has several construction projects underway, including the finishing of Bunny Trail off of Stan Schlueter in February of 2014.

Killeen ISD also has plans to open four new schools, including an elementary and middle school set to open in 2016.
