Wanted man caught after eluding authorities for two months

A wanted man, who had been eluding authorities for the past two months, has been arrested in Milam County. Samuel Martin "Marty" Wesson of Tanglewood had felony warrants out of Bastrop, Lee and Milam Counties.

Milam County Sheriff's Office received a few tips that Wesson had been staying with his grandparents in Tanglewood. Lee County officers had been unsuccessful in their attempts to find him at the home. The Sheriff's Office got more information Friday night, and allowed deputies and state troopers to search an area south of Milano for Wesson's red pick-up truck.

Officers found Wesson driving west on rural Milam County Road 328, where they attempted to stop and apprehend him.  He led them on a short chase before abandoning his vehicle in a private road and running off on foot.

Wesson was found by officers in a lightly wooded area, and fought with him while trying to take him into custody.

Wesson is accused of distribution of methamphetamines, organized criminal activity and felony thefts. Wesson now faces additional charges of evading in a motor vehicle, aggravated assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

He is now in the Milam County Jail with bonds totaling $355,000.
