Following an article about organic food being used in a Chinese restaurant to make authentic, healthy dishes, Colle Farmers Market releases a statement.

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2013

On March 18, 2013, Colle Farmers Market, the online directory of organic farmers markets, releases a statement following an Los Angeles Times article by Frank Shyong regarding the news of a Chinese restaurant serving organic food.

According to the Los Angeles Times article, the restaurant Farm Cuisine owned by Jonathan Tam in Monterey Park Los Angeles, is using organic food to prepare their dishes. The Chinese restaurant is trying to offer diners a healthy, yet still cost-efficient, alternative to the normal food used in Chinese restaurants.

The article states, “Area restaurants wear B and C food-safety grades like badges of honor, and diners line up for cheap fried pork dumplings and dim sum at $2 a plate. Tam's dumplings cost $7 and come steamed, with organic spinach wrappers.” The article mentions that even though the food costs more, Tam believes that he has no real competitors, since the Chinese restaurants surrounding him don’t offer the same organic food option.

According to the article, another restaurant known as Green Zone opened back in 2006 and was met with some skepticism. The owner of Green Zone, Jillian Cam, wanted to make Chinese dishes without using unhealthy fats. Organic food in a restaurant can make prices rise, but with people becoming more and more health conscious restaurants like Farm Cuisine and Green Zone are tapping into a growing food market, says the article.

Colle Farmers Market, an organization that believes in the health benefits of organic foods, recognizes the obstacles that can come with trying to serve organic-only food in a restaurant. While the price can rise, with the growing market for organic food, these restaurants are perfect for people who love Chinese food, and love to eat healthy as well. Colle Farmers Market believes restaurants like the Farm Cuisine are taking a positive step forward into the future of dining.

Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is passionate about sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement is dedicated to connecting natural product vendors, organic farmers and all people who are living an organic and natural lifestyle.
