The City of Belton is accommodating population boom

Posted:
BELTON -

The City of Belton is improving the city to accommodate the new found population growth. City council met with the Capitol Improvement Plan Committee earlier this week to create some short term solutions to the population gain.

They plan to widen Main St 317, and up-sizing their waste water line to accommodate the new University of Mary Hardin-Baylor stadium that is being built. They are also offering downtown businesses a grant up to $10,000 to renovate their store fronts.

The Capitol Improvement Plan Committee is also leading the multimillion dollar police station expansion, and plans to purchase a new fire truck for the fire department.

This new committee will be creating a proposal to present at the bond meeting in November to address other needs the city is facing due to the population increase.

The city of Belton has seen a 28% growth increase in the last thirty years, and are confident that they will continue to grow.
