Two semi-trailer trucks collide, halt traffic on Interstate 35

CENTRAL TEXAS, TX (KXXV) -

Two 18-wheelers involved in an early morning accident stopped traffic on Interstate 35 Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 6:03 a.m. when one 18-wheeler drifted into a retaining wall and jackknifed. Another 18-wheeler attempted to take evasive action, but could not avoid hitting the rear of the first truck. 

Both trucks suffered severe damage, but police say there were no injuries. there was a spill of about 150 gallons of diesel fuel, but no fire was reported.  The trucks were carrying loads of cabbage and sugar.

The highway backed up traffic for almost 5 miles just north of Troy. The road is expected to be cleared by 11:30 a.m.
