KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

Five people who are believed to be involved with a 2012 murder have been arrested on charges of engaging in criminal activity.

The investigation began after a body was found in the yard of a home in the 1400 block of East Avenue G on July 17, 2012. Results of the investigation were presented to a Bell County Grand Jury, who handed down sealed indictments.

Law enforcement arrested 32-year-old Fred Lee Williams, 30-year old Larry Donnell Boswell Jr. and 27-year-old Daniel Carruth in various locations across Central Texas on Friday. 31-year-old Kevin Lee Stafford was also arrested on Friday in Lubbock.

The final suspect, Stephon Mitchell Lewis, was arrested Tuesday in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The case is being handled as gang related incident.

On the day of the incident, a resident in the 1400 block of East Ave G heard gunshots and called police for help. Officers found a 29-year-old Ricky Dewayne Brandon lying in a front yard of a home he didn't live in. Brandon had suffered a wound to the chest.

One neighbor told News Channel 25 that morning that he had noticed a white suburban parked on his street, and that when he came outside he had seen a man running with a rifle.

More charges are expected to be filed later.

"Yes, the president said that 'he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway.' And it made me cry 'cause I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said he couldn't remember my husband's name," Sgt. La David Johnson's widow said in an interview.
