CENTRAL TEXAS -
Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials have five people in custody following a traffic stop on I-35 in Lorena Tuesday morning. Two women and three men are being questioned but the driver and four others are still on the loose.
At 9:24 a.m. a DPS trooper pulled over a Dodge Pickup for what he thought was a routine speeding traffic stop. When the trooper approached the truck it sped off the next exit and ten people fled from the vehicle.
The massive search involved multiple agencies including DPS, ground and air support from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office and Lorena PD. The massive search was called off but Wilson says it's now up to local police to continue to patrol the surrounding areas.
Lorena police have gotten several reports about men running through some neighborhoods. Officials don't believe the suspects are dangerous but are telling people to keep their cars and doors locked.
Law enforcement learned the car was registered in Donna, Texas near the Mexico, Texas boarder. I.C.E also seized the vehicle.
