Large fire destroys Killeen mobile home

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

A large fire has destroyed the back of a mobile home in Killeen. Law enforcement received a call at 10:15 a.m. Friday morning about a fire in the 5300 block of Tiffany Circle.

When they arrived on the scene they saw heavy smoke coming out of the building. Fire crews were able to contain the fire immediately. The lone female resident was able to escape the home without injury. However, her three cats were killed in the fire.

The Fire Marshall's office believes the fire started in the back porch area of the home and spread from there. The back of the home was completely destroyed, and the roof in the rear side of the home collapsed.

The grass and other structures behind the house also caught fire, but were extinguished.

Witnesses told firefighters they heard some type of explosion, but officials say the cause of the fire has not been determined at this time. The fire is still being investigated at this time.
