Man arrested in Georgia for local child sexual assault case

Posted:
TEMPLE -

A Temple man on the run for a December incident was arrested Wednesday in Atlanta, Georgia. 51-year-old Arthur Jay Morgan was arrested by the United States Marshall's Service after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child.

On December 30 Temple police responded to a report of a sexual assault of a child.  The 7-year-old victim told an adult that Morgan had inappropriately touched her beneath her clothing.  The child also told the adult had happened on multiple occasions.

After an investigation, police obtained a warrant and tried to serve it at Morgan's place of employment, but he was no longer there. Officers were unable to find Morgan after checking various places for him.

Morgan has a previous conviction for offenses against children, and he has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
