Coryell County man arrested for attempting to hit friends with truck

Posted:
CORYELL COUNTY -

A Coryell County man is in jail for trying to run over two friends in his pickup truck on February 17.  The incident happened just after midnight at the home of Zachary Taylor Filip in the 1100 block of Travis Circle.

Two friends, Marcos James Grove and Jessica Marie Westbrook, came to check on him. When the victims arrived they say Filip was inside the home screaming and his truck was running in the driveway.

Filip then came out of his home and started yelling at his friends to leave. The friends then decided to walk home, as Filip told them to get off his property. Filip then got into his white truck and drove away from the victims until he turned around and headed towards them.

Filip drove on to the sidewalk and tried to run over both Grove and Westbrook as they were walking home. Authorities say Filip attempted to hit the victims three times with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The victims told police that the act was intentional and that Filip was yelling at them while he tried to run them over. Filip was arrested on aggravated assault charges Tuesday.
