TEMPLE -
Residents at a Temple apartment complex had to evacuate early Monday morning after a fire erupted inside an unoccupied unit. Firefighters were notified of the fire at 3:21 a.m. at the Ramona Courtyard Apartments located at 500 West Ave G in Temple.
When rescue crews arrived, they found smoke and flames visible in a single apartment. Temple Sleeping residents from nearby units were then evacuated from their homes.
Fire crews were able to control the flames and have everyone evacuated safely by 3:44am.
Fire investigators learned that the unit involved in the fire was unoccupied and had recently completed a renovation project. Investigators say the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental.
No injuries were reported, and the single unit sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
