BOSQUE COUNTY -

A 69-year-old man has been arrested following a shooting in Bosque County early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred before 1 a.m. at a home on Country Road 3670.

Bosque County Sheriff's deputies went to the home after receiving an emergency call from a female. The caller told law enforcement that someone was trying to break into her home and she could hear gun shots.

The caller stayed on the phone with Bosque County dispatchers as deputies were sent to the scene.

Deputies were told that the intruder was shooting into the victim's front door in an attempt to enter the home. As deputies arrived, they could hear gun shots coming from the home.

Deputies found John Day on the river bank behind a home near the victim. Bosque County and McLennan County deputies then arrested Day.

Day has been charged with six counts of  aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of burglary of habitation, two counts of child endangerment and one count of possession of marijuana.

Day is currently being held in the Bosque County Jail awaiting arraignment on the charges, and his bond has not been set at this time.
