Cameron teenager engages in altercation with police, attempts to flee


A 19-year-old Cameron man is jail after he attempted to flee from police Monday afternoon. The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of 8th and Central Ave in Cameron.

A Cameron police officer found Aaron Ray Rodriguez, and recognized that he was wanted on a bond forfeiture out of Williamson County. When the officer approached Rodriguez, the suspect resisted arrest.  

During the incident, Rodriguez tried to grab a gun under his coat. The gun fell to the ground during the incident. Law enforcement had to deploy a taser to subdue Rodriguez, and eventually placed him into custody. 

Rodriguez has been charged with possession of a controlled substance under a gram in a drug free zone, evading arrest, resisting arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

He is now in the Milam County Jail awaiting arraignment.
