Apartment residents go days without running water

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) -

Resident's at the Parkwoods Apartments in Bellmead have been without running water for four days. Sewage was leaking from the apartment complex and running into the city's water.

Lindsey Casper who lives at the complex says she she's been struggling trying to live without one of life's necessities.

"I have a six-month old baby and no ways to take care of her, no ways to bathe her or anything. It's just hard."

TCEQ told the city to cut off the water at the complex to stop the sewage from leaking.

Bellmead building officials have been out to the complex, on the 1000 block of Hogan Lane to inspect the situation. The city official told News Channel 25 that it was a safety issue.

"I had to go buy water, I've had to carry water, my grandma has brought me water and I mean, we [even] have to walk to the bathroom," Said Casper.

Residents have been walking blocks to a nearby H.E.B just to use the restroom. A Bellmead city official says the city opened up the public restrooms at the Park Across the street for residents to use.

City officials say they're working with the building's owner to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

The apartment manager says she handed out cases of water Monday to all the residents. She says she understands why residents are frustrated and that she's working to get the problem fixed as fast as she can. In the meantime she says she ordered port-a-potties for the residents to use until the water has been turned back on.
