Construction worker rescued after falling into 20-foot hole

TEMPLE -

A construction worker in Temple is recovering after he fell 20 feet down a hole early Monday morning. Temple Fire and Rescue sent a team to the scene of the construction accident at NW Loop 363 and Pegasus.

Thomas Pechal of the Temple Fire And Rescue says the worker was climbing down a ladder when he fell into an estimated 20-foot deep hole. He was unable to climb up the ladder on his own and rescue crews had to lift him out.

Extrication equipment was lowered into the hole to retrieve the man.

A fire department paramedic started an IV and administered pain medication to the worker. He was then transported by Scott & White EMS to Scott & White Hospital for treatment.

The man is believed to have non-threatening injuries.
