COPPERAS COVE -
A Copperas Cove woman has been arrested for her involvement in a officer involved shooting in last month. The incident happened on January 19 on the 1200 block of West Avenue B.
Officers were called to the scene because of a suicidal woman. Officer Christian Suess was the first to arrive on scene. The arrest affidavit says Officer Suess made contact with 22 year-old Amanda Lynn Jackel, and attempted to gather information from her.
Jackel threatened police and told them, "If you don't shoot me I'm going to kill you" and "If you come into my trailer I'm going to shoot you and then shoot myself."
After talking to the woman for several minutes the officer retreated behind a vehicle parked just outside of the trailer. Jackel left her apartment and started walking toward the officer with a knife in her hand.
The officer warned Jackel several times to stop walking and drop the knife. Police say Jackel ignored the officers orders and walked faster towards the officer. Officer Suess fired three shots, hitting Jackel once. Copperas Cove Fire Department EMS treated her and transported her to a nearby hospital.
Friday, Jackel was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant and her bond was set at $100,000.
