Cabela's Incorporated announced plans today, to open a new store in Waco this year. The company will break ground in March and plans to open in time for this years holiday season.

The new 42,000-square-foot Cabela's Outpost store will be located in the Central Texas Marketplace off I-35 and Loop 340 on the south end of Waco. It will bring about 100 full-time, part- time and seasonal jobs to the city. This will be the retailer's fourth location in Texas joining the Fort Worth, Buda and Allen locations.

"Texas is full of outdoors men and women who live the Cabela's lifestyle - people who share our enthusiasm for outdoor adventure - so this is a marvelous fit," said Tommy Millner, Cabela's Chief Executive Officer." We are excited to bring the Cabela's Outpost store concept to Waco."

Cabela's is one of the largest outdoor sporting good companies in the nation. The new retailer is expected to boost the local economy.

Waco City Spokesman Larry Holze says Cabela's is a destination store that could bring other big name restaurants and retailers to the city.

""Cabela's has a reputation for drawing people hundreds of miles many times. and so that's going to be a great draw to come into our community, spend extra money at the shopping out there at the central Texas marketplace and possibly other eating establishments as well," says Holze.

One commercial real estate expert told us this is a great deal for this shopping center and that Cabela's is about as good a tenant as they could have hoped for.

Kristina Collins, Director of Business Retention and Expansion in Waco says the company will bring in big tax revenues to the county.

"We're really excited as a community about this. It's a great win for the Waco area, for central Texas as a whole too. If you look at what's it's done in other communities having a Cabella's there, it's really changed the perception of those particulars communities. And so that we have the same opportunity is fantastic for us," says Collins.

Waco customers will have access to Cabela's merchandise via online order kiosks located throughout the store, as well as free shipping with an In-Store Pickup program. In-Store Pickup allows customers to order Cabela's gear ahead of time and pick it up at their convenience at the store of their choice.

Cabela's stores showcase thousands of products, including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife-watching gear, as well as clothing and outdoor-themed gifts and furnishings.

Cabela's is an international retailer and operates 41 stores across the United States and Canada with plans to open an additional 14 by the end of 2014.

"I think it's kind of a celebration of what our community is all about right now. Waco is an attractive place to do business," says Holze.
