Baylor Women's Golf in Sixth at Northrup Grumman

Hayley Davis tied for ninth at one-over par 72

 PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Baylor women's golf team finished round one of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in sixth place after shooting an opening round 18-over-par 302 on Monday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.

 The Lady Bears are just three strokes behind fifth place Texas (+15; 299). UCLA (+4; 288) is leading the tournament, while Duke (+6; 290) and Florida (+6; 290) are tied for second place. Southern California (+14; 298) rounds out the top five.

 Hayley Davis leads all Baylor scorers with a first round one-over-par 72. She is tied for ninth place with players from Duke, Southern California and UCLA. Davis is just two strokes behind tournament leader Alejandra Cangrejo (-1; 70) of Duke.

 Lauren Taylor (+4; 75) is tied with four other players for 30th place. Emma Carberry (+5; 76) is just one stroke behind Taylor and tied for 35th place overall, while Laura Lonardi (+8; 79) is tied for 60th place and Natalia Perez (+9; 80) is tied for 69th place.

 Tee times for Tuesday's second round will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with Natalia Perez teeing off first for the Lady Bears at 11:15 a.m.

    The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team battled back from an early deficit and then held off Louisiana College's late rally attempt as the Cru posted a 6-3 victory over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Pineville, Louisiana.
