Two arrested in traffic stop drug bust

A man and woman are behind bars after being found in possession of various types of drugs following a traffic stop. 42-year-old Ronald Kim Arellano and 30-year-old Amy Annette Rogers are in McLennan County Jail following the incident at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near New Road. Police say one of the people in the car was spotted with an open knife. Officers patted Arellano down for weapons, and found what was believed to be a meth pipe and a bag with suspected meth in it.

Arellano then ran from police, until he was finally chased down. He fought with the officers, until police deployed a taser to subdue him.

Arellano has been charged with possession of controlled substance over four grams, evading arrest, resisting arrest and he is also being held on a parole violation.

Police say Rogers was found with meth and two different kinds of prescription drugs that she did not have prescriptions for. She has been charged with possession of  a controlled substance and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs charges.
