Copperas Cove woman sentenced to life sees appeal denied

Posted:
CORYELL COUNTY -

A woman sentenced to life for kidnapping and killing her mother had her appeal denied on Thursday. Gwendolyn Inez Greene appealed her life sentence to the 10th District Court of Appeals.

The court ruled that the appeal was "wholly frivolous" and "without merit," and claimed that the appeal can not be based on "arguable grounds."

In 2011, Greene pled guilty to the aggravated kidnapping, and was sentenced to life in prison for the death of her 57-year-old mother, Catherine Jackson Greene.

She was said to have hit her mother several times with a metal pipe before she and her boyfriend tied her mother up and put her in the trunk of a car.

The car was later involved in a fiery accident that charred her mother's body beyond recognition.
