WACO -
A 31-year-old Waco man is facing a laundry list of charges following an incident in a local restaurant parking lot that occurred Tuesday night. Joshua Taylor Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and endangering a child.
The victim, an 18-year-old woman, told police that because of past history of actions of Smith, she wanted to keep him away from her. The victim pulled out pepper spray and sprayed him during the incident.
Smith is accused of pulling out a knife just as the victim's mother drove up in another car. As the victim and her 2-month-old baby got into her mother's car, Smith then jumped on the hood of the car and began beating it in an attempt to keep them from leaving.
Three male bystanders pulled Smith off the car, and the victim's mother began driving away. Smith got into his own van and rammed into the car containing the 18-year-old victim, her mother and the baby.
Smith drove off after the collision, and the women called police. Smith was arrested at his home a short time later.
He is in McLennan County Jail.
