IP Checkups to provide an in-depth analysis of patent risks and strategies for the LED and solid-state lighting (SSL) industries.

On February 12, 2013 IP Checkups will present a four-hour workshop on intellectual property risks and management strategies for the LED and solid-state lighting (SSL) community. The workshop, entitled “IP Business Strategies in the LED Industry,” will be part of Strategies in Light (SIL) 2013, a three-day SSL industry conference held in Santa Clara, CA.

Paul Kallmes, strategic partner at IP Checkups and former licensing director for Philips Color Kinetics, will open the workshop with insights on current LED licensing practices. “IP is not like other assets and it is important to understand how intangible assets differ from other, more familiar assets,” said Paul Kallmes. “In today’s markets, any LED company must have a comprehensive strategy to manage IP litigation risks, and capture value from their own IP portfolios.”
