Central Texas church vandalized early Sunday morning

TOURS, TX (KXXV) -

A Central Texas church is vandalized early Sunday morning, and church officials are looking for the culprits.

The incident happened between 3:00-4:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Church in Tours, Texas. Church officials believe that suspects were driving through the area shooting a gun, and hit the church ten times.

One of the bullets struck and broke a stained glass window, and another went through a wall and exited inside the foyer of the church leaving a big whole in the sheet rock wall. The other eight damages occurred on the siding or concrete base of the church.

Church officials also found one of the statues in the front area damaged. The hand of one of the statues was broke off. 

The damage is currently estimated at between $6,000-$8,000. If anyone has any information about the incident, please contact the McLennan County Sheriff's Office at 757-5122.
