A Temple man has been killed after he is hit by a truck Thursday night. The incident occurred at the 4800 block of S. 31st Street at about 8:40 p.m.
Police say the initial investigation indicates a dark colored 2004 Ford pickup hit a male pedestrian was crossing the street. Police believe the pedestrian had walked directly into the path of the vehicle, and was thrown approximately 70 feet away from where the collision had occurred.
The driver of the vehicle stopped the car, called 911, and rendered first aid to the victim. Temple Fire and Rescue and Scott and White EMS personnel tried to save the victim's life, but was unsuccessful. 55-year-old Douglas Robert Will was declared dead on the scene.
The driver has not been charged with a crime, and Temple Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit is conducting an investigation into the crash.
