COPPERAS COVE -
A 52-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested with the help from file DNA. George Sabat Brooks is charged with breaking into a Copperas Cove home and sexually assaulting a woman.
Copperas Cove police have been investigating the incident that was reported June of 2012. The victim told police Brooks had entered her front door and attacked her before she could react. He then fled the scene on foot.
The break in the case came when a match was reported between DNA collected following the attack and file DNA from Brooks who was a federal convicted sex offender.
Brooks was a registered sex offender on probation at the time of the attack. He is being held in Coryell County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
