Moody man wanted for evading arrest caught

MOODY -

A man wanted for evading arrest and driving a stolen car is now in the McLennan County Jail. Christopher Villa, also known as Joe Vela, was picked up by Waco police Monday night, and was charged with evading arrest and theft over $1,500.

Police were first notified about Villa after he attempted to steal from the Walmart on Franklin Ave in Waco. The vehicle he was driving was described as a silver 2006 BMW 539.

The vehicle was later spotted in McGregor and in Moody, where it was determined that the car had been stolen out of Colorado. When police saw the BMW, they noticed the vehicle had been spray painted.

The driver fled from officers in Moody and got away until Monday night when Waco police was notified of a suspicious vehicle in the 1400 block of Turner Street in East Waco.

When police arrived on the scene, they surrounded the house until the suspect came out of the home and surrendered.

Police determined that the suspect's name was an alias, and believed his actual name is Christopher Villa.
