Texas Youth Commission employee investigated for physical incident

Posted:
MART -

One Texas Youth Commission employee at the Mart facility remains on unpaid administrative leave as an investigation continues into an incident involving a teen client.

The incident occurred in mid-December, when the client was being removed from a living area for an alleged infraction. As the client was being removed he struck the staff member in the face with a closed fist.

A spokesman for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department says the female staff member struck the teenage male client in retaliation. The spokesman also said that actions made by the staff member were against policy, and the incident is under administrative and criminal investigation.

The client and staff member were treated for minor injuries, and the final outcome of the investigation has not been determined.
