KILLEEN -
Police say a man who barricaded himself inside a home for nearly sixteen hours has been taken into custody without incident. Sean Michael Denny has been charged with aggravated assault for an incident that occurred before the standoff.
Officers received information about an assault that occurred during a domestic dispute at 3604 Tatonka Drive around 1:30 p.m., Sunday.
When officers arrived they found a woman and a young girl outside of the home. The woman told them that there was a man inside threatening to harm himself.
Officer's attempted to speak with Denny, but he refused to come out of the house and barricaded himself inside. Authorities believed he had weapons inside the residence and the Tactical Response Unit was deployed.
Members of the Tactical Response Unit arrived and began evacuating nearby residents. Killeen police prevented anyone coming within two blocks of the home during the standoff.
The officers began making negotiating with the male throughout the day, and attempted to get him to come out of his residence to speak with them.
Just before 10:00pm the residents who were evacuated from their homes were directed to the Killeen Community Center until the standoff ended.
Denny was taken into custody without incident at 4:56am. His bond is set at $100,000.
