I-35 auto -pedestrian accident turns fatal

Posted:

A man hit by a truck on Interstate Highway 35 has died. 49 year-old Bobby Ray Gooden was rushed to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead after undergoing emergency surgery.

The accident happened just north of the Forrest Street exit.

Authorities say two men were trying to cross the highway when one was hit by a Chevy pickup carrying a flatbed trailer.

A witness told News Channel 25 that she heard something unusual from one of the men when she approached the scene, "One of the gentlemen was on the ground hollering ‘old school! I told you not to smoke that crack and drink, thinking you were Superman!"

Two lanes were closed and traffic was back up nearly five miles while the accident was cleared.

The other man was not injured.
