The baby found by an employee in the Walmart bathroom has finally been laid to rest.
Baby Jane Doe, also known as the City's Baby, received proper burial on Thursday afternoon. The community came out to support Baby Jane Doe, so she will know she was loved.
Some of the Walmart staff was in attendance, hoping to be able to pay their respects to their beloved baby. The Walmart Store Manager Robert Sykes spoke to News Channel 25 on the behalf of the Walmart in Killeen.
"It really hit the store hard, it was like losing a family member. And really the store is still in shock over the whole ordeal," said Sykes.
Several other businesses and organizations came together to be able to give the baby a ceremony.
"We wanted to give her a proper burial, to let her know that she was loved," explains Carroll Smith of the Killeen Police Department. "You know she didn't have a good start, and the community wanted to come together to make it happen."
Investigators have ordered an autopsy for Baby Jane Doe, and the mother of this baby has not come forward. Detectives are still trying to figure out what happened.
