TROY -
A man and his wife were found dead inside their home on the 1800 block of Willow Grove Road, Tuesday morning. The Bell County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Darrell Wayne Parker of Little River and have charged him with one count of capital murder.
Parker has been identified as the son of 63-year-old Cathy Youngblood and the stepson of 62-year old Chuck Youngblood.
This all unfolded when deputies received a call from a Temple Daily Telegram reporter for a welfare check on the couple who hadn't been seen or heard from since Thursday January 10.
When a Temple constable and deputies arrived out in the rural area, located between Troy and Moody, they found the couple shot to death in their home. Justice of the Peace Barfield pronounced them dead and ordered the bodies sent to the Southwest Institute for Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.
Deputies later received a tip that the couples 2003 Chevy Trail Blazer was missing from their home. Local law enforcement was able to track down the vehicle to a residence in Little River. Parker was found with the vehicle was taken into custody.
Bell County Sheriff's Public Information Officer, Donnie Adams said "The CID is also in the process of obtaining search warrants for several locations in the county to follow up on their investigation."
Parker was questioned on Tuesday but had not been charged with the murders until Wednesday. Officers say the murder weapon has not been found.
