Two men have been arrested for burglary of habitation in Mart overnight. Charles Dewayne Williams and Kevin Edward Lewis Williams were arrested after a resident notified police that the two men were suspiciously walking around a home.
While the witness was on the phone, she told police that the men had entered the house. When officers arrived they took one man in custody inside the home and one outside the home.
Though the men share the same last name, they denied knowing each other and claimed they were just entering the house to keep warm. Yet, one of the men listed an address just a hundred yards away.
Police noticed that the entrance to the attic had been opened giving the men access to the copper wiring in the house.
Both men were transported to the McLennan County Jail, and police have not determined if this burglary was connected to others.
