Flu cases on the rise in McLennan County

By: Nate Mills

WACO - Flu season is sweeping the country and here in Central Texas. Reported cases in McLennan County have spiked from ten a week to over one hundred each week for the past month.

Texas is one of forty three states that have reported widespread flu cases. Over twenty-two thousand cases have been reported in the nation.

Kelly Craine, with the McLennan County Health District, says that although the cases have come early, the season is still young.

"We're still seeing that rapid attack rate where people are still getting sick and they're still spreading it and we have no indication if it's going to slow down at this point.

Children and Seniors are most at risk for the virus. Experts advise it's not too late to get a flu shot.
