GATESVILLE -
Gatesville police have arrested a man accused of assaulting his ex-spouse and threatening another man with a gun. 34-year-old Christopher Edwards Evans was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Police were sent to the H-E-B in the 1200 block of E. Main Street on Monday evening in reference to a fight in progress. When officers arrived on scene, they initially detained a black male, identified as Evans.
Officers were told that Evans met an ex-spouse at H-E-B to exchange custody of their child when Evans allegedly assaulted her. The victim's boyfriend ran to her aid, and verbal argument between Evans and the boyfriend then ensued.
Witnesses say Evans allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened the two people. A physical altercation ensued and the handgun was knocked to the ground. Police officers located the handgun and took it into custody.
