MCGREGOR -
A McGregor man has been arrested after trying to sell jewelry he had stolen from a home in December. Jilberto Jaimes was booked into the McLennan County Jail on burglary of habitation charges.
Jaimes stole pieces of jewelry from a house on the east side of McGregor, and planned on having the jewelry melted down for their metals. Investigators were able to find him after he attempted to sell the jewelry.
Investigators say several pieces were recovered before they were destroyed. Jaimes is also being held on previous charges of bail jumping, no driver's license and open container charges.
