FORT HOOD -
The Fort Hood soldier who died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident has been identified. Specialist Marcus Orin Williams, 27, died at approximately 2 a.m. December 19 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Williams entered active-duty service in April 2006 as an motor transport operator, and arrived at Fort Hood in October 2006. He was assigned to the Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since June 2012.
Williams deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2007 to January 2009 and from August 2010 to August 2011.
Williams' awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
