KILLEEN -
A Killeen woman is in fair condition after being shot multiple times by her husband Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at the 2800 block of Lavender Dr.
Officers responded to a 911 call in which a woman said was shot by her 64-year-old husband, Matthews Fredrick Brooks Jr., during a domestic dispute. While officers were on their way to the home, they learned Brooks had shot and killed himself.
When officers arrived on the scene they saw the 54-year-old female on the front porch, and immediately rushed her to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center before transferring her to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Police entered the home and found Brooks inside the bedroom with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 12:36pm, and there has been no autopsy ordered at this time.
The name of the victim has been withheld, and detectives continue to investigate the case.
