New emergency notification system available for Central Texas residents

CENTRAL TEXAS, TX (KXXV) -

The Heart of Texas Council of Governments introduced a new emergency notification system for some Central Texas counties. The system will allow officials from Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan counties to do callouts to ensure the safety of the public.

These callouts will also warn of danger and public health.

Universities such as Baylor and Texas A&M already have a similar system in place.

A&M's Code Maroon system has been applauded for their attentiveness sending out alerts when a Brazos County constable was shot and killed and for alerting the campus to a reported bomb threat.

If you are a resident in one of the six counties, you can sign up for these alerts at www.hotready.com.
