WACO -

Athletes, students and fans enjoyed festivities Wednesday in San Diego as the Baylor Bears prepare for the Holiday Bowl. Some of these activities included a battle of bands between Baylor and UCLA.

A kick-off luncheon was also held for the students and athletes. Baylor president, Judge Ken Starr is soaking in all the excitement, and is pleased with the student turnout.

"It's a great way for the Baylor community to come together," Judge Starr said. "It builds enthusiasm and that's good."

Wednesday morning about 600 Baylor students lined up at the Ferrell Center to head to San Diego for the game.

There were six buses ready for the eager students, who paid $100 each for their round trip ticket to the Holiday Bowl. The fee included the bus fare to San Diego, lunch, a ticket to the game, plus a one night stay at a hotel.

The Baylor Bears will take on the UCLA Bruins Thursday night at 8:45 p.m. on ESPN.
