Salvation Army feeds hundreds of Christmas meals

Posted:
WACO -

Families and loved ones, mixed in with great food, and helpful volunteers make people in need, like David Lytle, sing a little louder on Christmas.

"Seeing people come here and spend their time with people that are homeless and that are in need, it touches me, because I'm one of them," Lytle said.

At least 200 families are expected to get a Christmas meal at the Salvation Army this year. Volunteer spokesperson Melissa Sartin says the families will leave full, thanks to people who want to help out.

"We don't really like receiving presents, we like to give back to the community here at the Sally, they've given so much to us so we feel like we need to give back," Sartin said.

They are paying it forward with turkey, ham, green beans, and so many delicious plates of deserts.

"There are people out there that know what love is, they know what compassion is and what caring really is," Lytle explained.

Whether it's love, compassion, or just wanting to give back, if you stop by this Salvation Army you are welcomed with open arms.
