HOUSTON (AP) - Retail gasoline prices statewide have dropped 6 cents this week as millions of Texans get ready to travel during the holidays.
AAA Texas on Wednesday reported the average price at the pump has slipped to $3.03 per gallon. Retail gasoline prices fell 7 cents nationwide to settle at $3.23 per gallon.
An association survey found that Fort Worth has the state's cheapest gasoline, averaging $2.98 per gallon. Amarillo has the most expensive gasoline in Texas at $3.10 per gallon.
Experts say gasoline prices have dropped amid cheaper crude oil prices, lower demand and economic concerns, along with increased inventories.
AAA has predicted nearly 7.7 million Texans will hit the road during the 11-day period holiday from Saturday through Jan. 1, with most traveling by vehicle.
