KILLEEN -
Killeen Police have declared the death of a woman who was found lying on her kitchen floor in December as a suicide. Police say evidence indicates that 56-year-old Robin Ann Hetherington poured flammable liquid in the interior of her home and ignited it.
Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set and determined that the fire was used as means of a suicide.
According to a release from Killeen PD spokeswoman, Caroll Smith, officers were patrolling the area of Veterans Memorial Blvd. and Jeffries around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday December 18. The officers heard the sound of an alarm and followed it to a home in the 2700 block of Taft St.
The officers were able to see inside the house through an open window and spotted Hetherington on the floor. They also noted that the inside of the house had been burned. An investigator with the Killeen Fire Marshal's Office told News Channel 25, "there was fire and smoke damage throughout the home."
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Hetherington dead at 8:00 a.m.
