Dead Fort Hood soldier identified

FORT HOOD -

The Fort Hood soldier who was killed after firing a shot at patrol officers has been identified. 30-year-old Staff Sergeant Kelly David Bangle died Friday near Kouma Lake.

Early Friday morning, Fort Hood emergency services patrol officers responded to a call on a suspicious vehicle. When officers approached the vehicle, a gunshot was fired.

Officers returned fire and fatally wounded Bangle. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division.
