KILLEEN -
A Killeen family is one step closer to getting justice for their son. 18-year-old Dino Cannon was gunned down in an Orlando club parking lot back in June.
Judge Marc Lebot in the ninth circuit court in Orange county Florida denied the bond request for 25-year-old Durick Ingraham. He is accused of shooting Dino Cannon outside of club limelight in Orlando .
Cannon's parents, Daphne and Dino feared Ingraham would jump bail because of his criminal record. Cannon's loved ones spread the word about the bond request.
Not only Central Texans, but people from all over the country mailed in over 400 written letters of concern to the judge. Then a petition was created on Change.org and more than 1200 people signed it.
The judge heard those concerns loud and clear. Dino Cannon's mother says she is relieved.
"I just screamed in the hallway, oh thank you Jesus!" Daphne Cannon said. " My first thought was thank you Lord that justice is being served. We've been awaiting this time all week long, knowing that if he had been let loose then maybe someone else would be hurt."
Dino Cannon graduated from Killeen High School a month before the shooting. Cannon was suppose to attend Prairie View A&M and play football. A trial date has not been set yet but state prosecutors are expected to fly out to Killeen in March to prep the family for the trial.
While Ingraham is in jail Cannon's family hopes to heel. The news of the hearing will never replace the feeling of losing this precious life.
